After the modest success of the new Honda Nsx, the 2017 Honda Type R is the next big thing that can put Honda back on the map of desirable sports cars manufacturers. For more competeur years Honda was leaking information and possible pictures, teasing its fans to the limit.
Finally it's actually happening the new Type R is here and on Thursday Honda confirmed that the starting price of the new hot hatchback Civic Type R msrp will be $34,775 . The new Type R will set you back 10 grand more than its Civic Si brother.
The new price point sets the World's fastest hatchback sets it into a whole new category. The car is going to compete with rivals like the Golf R, the Focus RS and the WRX STi although Honda will only have a front wheel drive system Nürburgring laps show that the car is very dynamically potent.
What do you get for $34,775 ?
The Honda Touring trim will give you enough to satisfy all needs. You will get a lot of aero add-ons, performance gauges as standard, proper sports seats embroider with the Type R logo, sport pedals, sport steering system, a wide touchscreen 7.0 inch infotainment system, capable of Apple Car Play and Android Audio, dual zone climate control, keyless ignition, a hefty 12-speaker 540 watt equipped system, 20-inch wheels that come with Continental's Sport Contact 6 tires 245/30ZR, Brembo 13.8 inch Brembo disc brakes with 4-pistons, LED headlights and a unique serial number near the central console.
Of course what you want more is the heart of the high performance hatchback .
Powering the vehicle will be a 2.0-Liter turbocharged inline 4 engine with a rating of 295 ponds of torque and 306 horsepower.
The car is equipped with a 6 speed manual, keeping the tradition alive although rated at only 25 mpg combined, these figures are not that bad having in mind that the Type R is the current record holder for the fastest Nürburgring lap with a front wheel driven vehicle and the in fact most of the Civic Type r news and reviews were positive.
What would hold all this power ?
The Type R has a state of the art chassis, at the front is a dual-axis strut while at the back we have a multi-link suspension, anti-roll bars at the front and back, exclusive Type R springs, bushings and dampers mounts. The car also has adaptive dampers which are run by the cars very own performance computer.
