Subaru reveals the all-new 2017 Impreza

Styling

One of the best looking sedans. The new  5th gen will debut with the new Subaru Global Platform architecture, designed to deliver a much more rugged crash protection, smoother ride comfort, better agility and handling and of course bigger driving pleasures. The car follows the lines of the concept shown in Tokyo and LA last year. The signature hexagonal grill is still present in the new model but the hawk-eye headlights on both ends a bit more discrete while the overall lines of the car put the athletic stance as accent.

The 2017 Impreza is 1.6 inches and 1.5 inches respectfully longer and wider than its predecessor. The car rides on a wider wheelbase compared to the old Subaru .  A lower coefficient of drag is possible because of the 0.4 –inch lower height, the cabin of the car is also roomier thanks to the car’s larger overall dimensions.

2017 Impreza side

Subaru Japan factory engineers made the overall structural regality of the car is increased by over 70 percent thanks to the incorporation of numerous types of high-strength steel in the all-new Subaru Global Platform.  Better cornering is insured by the strut front suspension combined with an independent double-wishbone rear suspension and a rear stabilizer bar installed directly to the body, reducing the body roll by 50 percent compared to the current car.

Performance

The Impreza sports the 2.0 liter four Boxer which gets direct fuel injection. I’m personally not a fan of the direct fuel injection, but hey that’s the trend right ? There are other enhancements which I refer to as complications too, which increase the power from 148 to 152 blue blooded stallions. Higher trim levels will get the new Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) with a seven-speed manual mode.  The car comes in several trims as follows , base, Sport, Premium and a number of Limited trim lines.

Editor’s choice: It's time to join the affordable sedans . In our opinion the base offers more than you really need. The 2.0i base features a 6.5-inch multimedia touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, power windows with auto up/down on both driver and passenger sides, tilt and telescoping steering column, tilt and telescoping steering column, multi-function display with fuel economy information and more.

2017 Impreza back

Of course if you are a fan of the  luxury sport sedans , the premium will get you Subaru STARLINK Safety and Security features, automatic headlights, the All-Weather Package featuring heated front seats, windshield and mirrors, power moonroof and roof rails on the 5-Door.
While the sport version will add a 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels, new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Active Torque Vectoring, Subaru STARLINK 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, a new harman/kardon premium audio system, keyless Access and Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and more.

For the real connoisseur of the Impreza, the Limited variations will offer you LED headlights and distinctive “Konoji” LED daytime running lights (DRL), standard 17-inch machine finished alloy wheels, 8-inch screen, leather interior, keyless access & push-button start, automatic climate control system, Subaru history - EyeSight safety system and new harman/kardon® premium audio is available in the Impreza for the first time. But if you ask me you are better off with a WRX STI sedan .
Pricing will be announced with the release to the public later this year.
